I created Underrated Hoops with the purpose of celebrating an idea of being underrated. By definition, to be underrated is to be not rated or valued highly enough. At Underrated Hoops, I want to take this sense of feeling and use it as a driving force to “prove them wrong” in a sense. I want the thought of being underrated to empower, rather than defeat. We all have to start somewhere, and for me, it started with being underrated.

Growing up, I was counted out constantly. I was never fast enough, tall enough, quick enough, light enough, tough enough, strong enough or smart enough. For years, those around me essentially figured I wouldn’t amount to much. I listened, and I found myself floundering and not really knowing what to do with myself. I figured they were right, so I let it be my story. Slowly, at least a decade after graduating high school, I started to hit milestones people thought wouldn’t happen.

In 2013 and 2015, I was a part of Championship teams who won NWAC titles. I graduated from a community college in 2013 (Lane) a University in 2015 (Western Oregon) and finished my first Master’s Degree in Kinesiology in 2016 (Oregon State University). During COVID I picked up a 2nd Master's Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration. In 2017 I landed a job as a teacher and have coached basketball at multiple levels over the years. I started my coaching career as a 5th grade boys basketball coach before moving up to girls JV basketball. From there I made stops at Lane Community College and Western Oregon University as a womens basketball coach, before settling down in Klamath Falls, coaching a variety of Basketball, Cross Country, Soccer, Football, and Track and Field.

Currently, I still serve as an educator, teaching Health and PE while also coaching Cross Country and Track. I manage and run the courts at Mike's Fieldhouse where we host several types of camps, clinics and tournaments. During the Summer, I serve as a director for the Point Guard College (PGC) as well as train athletes as part of Underrated Hoops.

Being a part of Underrated Hoops is being part of a community of like minded people. For me, it’s about developing individuals to embrace their doubters, and strive to prove others wrong while building fundamental skills. Along the way, it’s going to be a lot of fun and I’m ready to help you on your journey. Let’s Go!!
